Why does anyone watch either of the kids or teen tournaments?

I usually tone out during kids, but the teen tournament is still somewhat challenging

i never watched enough, but didn't they used to make you (or maybe just in the adult version) wager something in the final round, even if just a dollar?

Never.

The far more interesting part is how he even qualified into the final.

The three contestants in another semifinal all wagered everything on the final and lost. Which unless I'm missing something, that has never happened.

there's never been a minimum betting requirement in final jeopardy but you do need at least one dollar to be able to play in it. if you watch regularly, every once in awhile you'll come across a game with only two contestants at the end because the other one ended the double jeopardy round with a negative amount

and even if you don't know that, i think plenty of people know that juries are composed of 12 people. and by the end of things, usually 12 angry people.

yeah, he didn't know when he made the wager...that's why it's kinda funny in the video when you can see the look of relief on his face when he sees his clue.

it wasn't so dumb a move to bet 18000

if he had bet just enough to get 2x the other guy's score, the other kid still could have caught up to half of his score with the last few clues of the round

assuming one kid swept all the remaining questions, the highest he could go was 16,800. or, one half of 33,600. never mind that the other kid wasn't going to do that, leonard still over-wagered. he also put himself in a position where a 'wrong' answer basically would end his day.

it wasn't really stupid so much as it was highly unnecessary.
