jay mohr is annoying. he regularly comes on the local morning radio show and sometimes all he does is tracy morgan impressions. i think there are a group of comics that do not care for him

of course that one too. if i were a comedian i would show no respect for anyone like that.
like the most recent "borrowed" joke

what sucks about cook and mencia was that they made sooooo much money off it.

i saw pete holmes headline last weekend (with openers chris thayer, nick thune, and some chicago locals) and it was THE BEST.

it was at this alternative show that goes on in the back room of a pancake house/diner. my gf and i got there really early to eat dinner beforehand and the whole time pete holmes and chris thayer were just chilling in a booth a few feet away. every time pete would make a hearty laugh i felt like i was overhearing a podcast recording. i was too nervous and giddy to say anything to him though.

This...kind of fucks up my opinion of Kindler. What a petty prick.

I'm not even the biggest fan of Louis (the comic), but Kindler claiming that the only reason Louis (the show) gets so much praise is because it's "different" and not because of it's actual quality....that's such an embarrassingly immature teenage way of criticizing something.

"You sheep only eat this slop up because you're trying to be hip and offbeat!"

I think it's sorta cool someone was willing to bash CK like that. but it was not the right career move by any means and he's definitely wrong.

It was "cool"? That he was willing to do what exactly, insult somebody popular? Wow, look at the balls on him. I don't get this shit of it being hip to try and take somebody down a peg because everybody likes him/her. It's childish.

his ricky gervais laugh was dead on and so were some of his ricky lines, but complaining because ricky and louie didn't laugh at your jokes? the "freshman sitting with seniors" line comes off as so insecure. i haven't heard of jay morh in a decade, so i guess it's a way to get some of louie's heat.

i was talking about kindler. it absolutely does take balls to get up in front of that many people and make enemies like that. far more than mohr's schtick on O&A. i don't think that kindler's point was to take louis down because he's popular. his goal was to point out that his tv show (in kindler's estimation) wasn't funny.

i probably should have said "noteworthy" or something like that instead of "cool"

I didn't listen to the whole thing - I got tired of waiting for him to make a valid point

agreed that it takes stones to stick your neck out about a nigh-universally-acclaimed show by an extremely beloved comedian. even more stones to do so without being funny while doing it

jay mohr obviously wasnt mad, he just wanted to do his (good) impressions of ck and gervais, it's the same reason he started "laying into" norm in that segment, but he quickly realized nobody was buying he had beef with him

If anyone hasn't heard it, the nerdist with tom hanks is pretty fun, even though hardwick is at his absolute most annoying during the whole thing.

The larry king episode was good too, but hardwick was once again terrible, mostly because he seemed too nervous to actually ask any questions. Although its funny when hardwick pretends he's a jackie gleason fan because, well he likes comedy and jackie gleason was a comedian.

jake, chris hardwick is a fan of EVERYTHING, because EVERYTHING is AMAZING.

oh allow me to vent a bit about something else entirely: kevin smith's Fatman on Batman podcast really really excited me. but god, it's awful. it should be my favorite thing that exists, basically interviews with people i am huge fans of and who were involved in my favorite show of all time (most of the first several episodes are all B:TAS-centric), but god...

not only is it boring (Batman almost NEVER comes up! ever! the interview with Arleen Sorkin only has about 20 seconds of Batman talk in over an hour...), but hearing Kevin Smith get things wrong about Batman episodes made me like...furious in a nerdy way. i mean, if i know more about the damn topic, why is he hosting a show about it. he goes on and on about being obsessed with the animated series and it being the inspiration for the podcast, yet misnames and misidentifies episodes and plots...eurgh it was driving me nuts.

okay, the end sections of YMIW are really getting tedious. there are only so many times I can hear a comedian talk about how atheists are just as annoying as christians

you know what's more annoying than "atheists"? people who say that. jesus

You realize that eventually everyone will start saying that, and that'll become the next most annoying thing to say and it'll continue on like this forever.

I really loved the kumail episode but that latter 30 minutes did drag a bit yeah. still was willing to let it pass because I love kumail and he's one of the few people pete holmes is comfortable enough around to not be OVERDRIVE PETE HOLMES

also quite enjoyed this week's CBB. garry marshall is a fantastic co-host

i feel like paul f tompkins should be waaaay more famous than he is. he is so clearly a class above everyone else in terms of comedic ability. i mean he is fucking razor sharp.

I try to consume everything he participates in. I even subscribed to MADE MAN DOT COM on YouTube just for his Speakeasy series, which is pretty great

I think a lot of people still inaccurately see tompkins as just some dude who was on those horrible vhw pop culture round ups. I personally didn't know pft was supposed to be a good comedian until I started listening to cbb, mostly for that reason.

i am, but i got into it a little later than most. it wasn't until a few years ago that i actually watched the whole series instead of just catching a few episodes here and there.
