Whedon confirmed to write/direct the sequel, and possibly develop a new TV show(!).

The nerd-hate would have been ridiculous if they'd let him walk. I'm guessing the yet unrevealed TV show was the lure.

Wonder what the show will be. Not good enough to be a movie, but gets a TV show?

When has that ever been the case with Whedon? The guy just likes the serial nature of tv.

I would that I'd love it to be a SHIELD series, but with Coulson dead, and Fury and Maria Hill clearly not going to be on it...that seems like it won't happen

Maybe a Heroes For Hire or She Hulk show, both of those could be a lot of fun

Well, I'm excited. Interesting to see how much of it will lead into the Avengers sequel

Original opening:

http://www.avclub.com/articles/here-...l-openi,84327/

Apparently the whole movie was going to be sort of a "grim flashback" in a way.

Yeah really glad they didn't go with that one. Felt sort of off in comparison to the rest of the film's tone.

i don't normally notice bad acting (i'm always the one going "really?" if someone says somebody's acting was bad) but she's really really bad in this scene. she seems bored.

and it just doesn't make any sense. and it completely kills the heroic and celebratory vibe from the end of the movie. thank god he realized it didn't work and cut it.

this is much much better

http://latino-review.com/2012/08/29/...vengers-scene/

i could see how it would sloooooooooooow the beginning of the movie down, but i like it, and it gives that waitress character more to do since she seems to be important later on in the movie when Cap saves her. also the stan lee cameo is funny.

it seems like that bad opening scene was based on a different script. I mean, it'd just about have to be - otherwise her statement wouldn't at all align with the way the team came together at the end of the story

A bit off topic, but I don't know if anyone else has seen this video that me made recently. But it's pretty hilarious

Cap scene is great. Alternate opening feels like it belongs in the sequel, a grim reminder that people do die in these invasions.

someone brought this up in the comments there, but enver gjokaj seriously needs more work. i noticed he was a cop in avengers, but i don't remember if he even had a line. joss needs to use him more if no one else is going to

ok so got the blu ray

the commentary with joss is awesome, lots of great tidbits in there

the deleted scenes with agent hill opening and closing the movie are awesome and i kinda wish they were in the flick, ditto for the scene with loki and hawkeye, the cap stuff i could take or leave

the gag reel is just funny as hell

if item 47 is some sort of a pilot for the SHIELD series, then count me all the way in
