What a third period. Made a boring game pretty damn exciting. Also love McCabe batting the puck into his own net with 3 seconds left.

pretty interesting, not much hitting, very little stoppage. except to fix the ice. loved it, pens won. everyone thought it was a bad day for this with the bowl games and all, but this was totally better. LETS GO PENS

The Winter Classic was an exciting game to watch all the way through. Of course, I am biased since I am a Penguins fan. I hope they do this every year on New Year's Day. I don't watch College Football so it gives people like me a better alternative.

so apparently the game did very well in the ratings, leading several markets and drawing the most viewers its had since the glowing puck. i know i haven't watched as much hockey in recent years, but it made my day to see some encouraging news for the league.

even though the sabres lost it was a great experience (and they did get a point). i've never been so excited walking into ralph wilson stadium as i was yesterday. i'll post some pics of where i sat as soon as i get my camera back.

it was pretty cool to watch. felt more attached to the game in edmonton 3 years ago but that's for obvious reasons.

loved the vintage jerseys, and it's nice to see the game become important in the states, at least for one day.

It couldn't have gone any better, really. NBC promoted it and covered it like a big deal, the weather helped the atmosphere, it was a good game, and it ended with Crosby as the hero. Easily the best thing that's happened for the league since the lockout.

You became a hockey fan in May 2007! Congratulations!

must have been an awesome time though, idratha. how hard was it to get tickets? i know when the heritage classic was here in edmonton, something like 100,000 people entered the lottery just to purchase tickets.

Actually, I've been a hockey fan since 2003. It's difficult to get into hockey down here if you are surrounded by baseball and football fans. We don't even have a football team!

Yes... many of the Ducks' current fans came from that season. But not me.

And also I'm pretty sure there was some sort of raffle to get tickets to a Detroit game.

... not a detroit regular season game. probably playoffs, and even then, not anymore the way attendance is in detroit.

that only happens in canadian cities not named ottawa, and a small handful of US cities

Penguins get Marian Hossa... and then lose to the Bruins 5-1.

Which trade do you think provided the most impact for their team?

considering he got hurt in the first game...

but seriously pittsburgh overpaid for a rental, and if he resigns they will be screwed by the cap and end up like tampa bay.

Pretty good night for Richards in his stars debut. Stars are the team to beat in the west. Playing really well right now and with Richards they are just scary. Hell they don't even have Zubov in the lineup and they still are the hottest team in the league.

Do people really think they overpaid? I just don't see it. Armstrong is a good third liner, Christensen is a 4th liner at best who is only good in the shootout. Esposito well I guess he is the wildcard. Looking at his stats and stuff he doesn't seem that impressive. More potential to be a bust then not. Hossa is one of the best wingers in the game and if they get to the finals I think the trade more then payed off.

i got lucky - my friend bought them online as soon as they went on sale. he was lucky enough to get 10 tickets. everyone else i knew that tried said they were sold out right away. i should have tried too, to make some money on ebay

oh yea, and welcome to bufflo bernier! 2 goals and an assist to start as a sabre. that was a good game to go to, 8-4 and plenty of fights. i was supposed to go tonight too but my buddy who got tickets from work got stuck in cleveland due to snow.

and IF esposito does end up a star they wont be able to pay him anyway
