so i think this is probably a good idea, to keep the discussions in 2 separate threads, as was suggested.
i'll get us started: this week's judge john hodgeman was really good and i want john darnielle to start a podcast where he just talks about metal now. |

holy fuck the You Made It Weird latest live podcast is fucking atrociously unbearable to get through
if anyone doesn't know like several fights happen during it and it's like really really really tense and uncomfortable Pete Holmes brings up that he got the E Trade Baby voice over job and Jon Glaser didn't and it causes awful tension the entire episode |

the itunes description says as much. at least it's very honest
I'm listening to pete on the todd glass show. despite how much todd repeats the same old bits (and is clearly and constantly high) I have a real enjoyment of this podcast |

maybe this is a more appropriate place to discuss comedians in cars than the seinfeld thread?
the colin quinn episode was pretty good. and the next is mel brooks and carl reiner which looks fantastic |

the most recent cbb was the only time i didn't nearly pee my pants listening to the alw character. i don't blame pft ... i think justin kirk was just too hesitant and uncomfortable for that skit to work. plug in almost any regular and i think that would have been a great episode.
the amike thing and then the appearance of the real mike the janitor killed me though ... especially since pft was unable to logically pull the sequence of events together (i was hit by plaster too .... then i took his clothes ... not then, but just now in the studio ... you're right he wasn't wearing his clothes then, so i don't how i got them) |

Yeah, I loved that, they seemed to have plotted out a vague idea of what to do and then just forgot/bailed on it on the end.
Is anyone listening to Gelmania? One of my favourite shows, the production work on it is incredible. Todd Glass Show is a another favorite because they seem to have more fun than any other podcast, they do repeat a lot of ideas, but it allows a lot of their jokes to build and turn in on themselves. Is the whole of that Pete Holmes episode awkward or is it just the Jon Glaser bit? Don't know if I want to listen to 75 minutes of discomfort. |

i loved james adomian's new misogynist asshole radio host character on this week's cbb. amy poehler killed it in the rap battle again ... and i also loved how she slowly started to fall for adomian's character after he called her a dirty hairy little woman and a piglet
i love brett gelman, but i'm having a hard time getting into gelmania. i do agree that the quality of production is insane, especially by podcast standards. is there a particular episode i should start with? the only one i've listened to is the adam pally and i was kind of lost throughout. need to check out todd glass' show. finally listened to his wtf episode where he came out. |

James Adomian has done that Tom Leykis impression on The Todd Glass show before, although he wasn't rolling his L's to such an insane degree.
Gelmania is certainly a niche taste. I wouldn't expect everyone to get into it. It reminded me a lot of Jam the Chris Morris TV sketch show and it's radio predecessor Blue Jam and he has said he was a fan of the TV show. I'd just listen to the first 2 episodes and if they don't do anything for you then I can't imagine it's going to suddenly click. It's probably best listened to late at night in the dark. Hahaha, thought you meant Jared Fogle and were making a comment about how you need to lose weight.
and "Call Condom Jungle for all your jungle condom needs!" "What are jungle condom needs?" "A jungle condom need is when you're going so far deep into that pussy you know you're not coming out civilized." ruined an entire work out |

I've taken to only listening to podcasts at work (makes time fly), and CBB is a dangerous choice for reasons like this moment. Nothing is more awkward than trying to explain to co-workers what Comedy Bang Bang is and why you're laughing so goddamned hard at it.

i submitted a Plugs theme for Comedy Bang Bang months ago. i checked the soundcloud page and it was finally downloaded last week.
i am hoping this means it will be on the show. that would be insanely exciting. |

thanks dude, here it is:
i uhh cheated and just re-used some rejected music i did for some OTHER thing (a crazy story in itself) but i figured why let it go to waste. also i like the idea of it being really pretty, cause most of the plugs themes are....uh....a bit rough around the edges. |

Wow, you'll be famous for one week and one week only.
I've had catchphrase submissions used on the show, which was cool. One of them was on the live tour which was "Sorry everyone, we've been doing this tour for a while now, and so there aren't any catchphrase suggestions left." The audience wasn't very loud though so I can't really tell if anyone is laughing at it. Last edited by benjamin; 09-21-2012 at 09:40 AM. |
