okay that was one of the best pilots i've ever seen.

I'm still really pissed off the horse died. it wasn't doing anything it was just standing there chilling and eating grass and having a good time and then this asshole comes along and gets it killed. what a douchemobile I fucking hate you, main character

I know I know I shouldn't be watching things like this if I want the animals to make it out okay. but still. that poor horse

that was a pretty awesome pilot though

i'm still really pissed off that the zombie wife could turn that doorknob.

I wasn't about to try to catch up to a long-running series about something I'm barely interested in.

But I'm interested enough to watch the show should the good reviews keep coming. Will check out tonight's ep on re-airing.

I hope the torrent is available quickly for those of us who've been doing without cable

Yeah, i felt bad for the horse too, i was hoping they would go the "they only attack humans and ignore animals" route like in the dawn of the dead remake, especially since he looked so badass riding the horse with all the guns and shit. Still really cool show though

Man if the horse thing upsets you that much you won't be able to watch this show, especially with the awful disturbing brutal things that happen later on in the series

But yeah the horse thing bothers me too, not saying it shouldn't. But....prepare yourself.

The majority of those disturbing brutal things happen to humans, though, so she'll be fine

The killing of the horse right there is like a mission statement for the show. Big majestic hero shot with a beautiful horse, and you think "this is going to be the show," and 2 minutes later cute little horsey is ripped to shreds.

Still not as painful as this though:

The first episode was very well done, and I can't wait to see the rest of the series. I can't wait for Michonne to come on the scene either.

Chill out, for Christ's sake. It was an off-hand comment. No, money doesn't matter but it does determine if sequels get made. And pieces of shit like Land and Diary shouldn't be inspiring anything for sequels.

little late to the party but just saw the first episode and it was pretty awesome, don't know if the series will be able to captivate me but definitely coming back for episode two

there were like, three opportunities where he could have used that grenade. dumbass.

So far it's sticking pretty damn close to the comic right down to the frames. I like it so far. Look forward to seeing how Andrew's going to handle some of Rick's heavy, heavy scenes later though.

Huh, all I kept thinking last night is how completely unlike the comic it was. Almost none of last night's episode happened in the comic, including all of those characters

i'm glad they didn't use the grenade in the episode, would have felt like a cheap plot device

i enjoyed the episode. i thought the character who got handcuffed on the roof was sort of obnoxious though

it's more of a flat-out plot device than "cheap," since it really would've made sense for him to use it in multiple situations. it's actually more "cheap" that it's being saved for a future episode

overall, much weaker than the first week, but that was to be expected, what with darabont not directing it (meaning it lost almost all of its dramatic sense). it was basically just an introduction of far too many characters in a hour-long span that are obviously going to get killed off

but it was still fun as hell

Sorry, I was actually talking about the first episode which is all I'd seen at that time.

I don't have much of an issue with them changing at least a few things or adding some stuff in, they have to spread it out a bit. To me having a bunch of characters show up only to be killed off kind of in it's own way sets the tone for the story from here on out. Just total fleetingness, where almost nothing or nobody is permanent, since Rick has to go from a man of law to a constantly on the go survivalist. It is a kind of filler certainly, but if things went exactly like the comic the episode would have been a lot shorter probably. Glenn surviving is all that mattered.

It looks like next week he's reuniting with Lori, Carl, and the others. That's when things start to get really take off since it begins to introduce the dual conflict of not only the zombie apocalypse, but how the survivors themselves start to change into something more unpredictable. Even if they did...kinda pretty up Shane a bit.

I was worried about the prettying-up; not everyone is supposed to be good-looking. I think they did a decent job of casting characters who look like regular people... at least insofar as TV is ever capable of that. Definitely above-average looks for this cast re: the general population, but below-average for TV

I just don't understand why the main character is played by a British actor. it was noticeable to the point of looking up to see if he was British.
