Ha!! Wow!!

Ok, that "ruins" the mystery a bit, but honestly, just because we now have a context for it doesn't make that panel any less haunting or dreary.

yeah... Jaime is like Science which acts as a blabber mouth who ruins a movie by telling you how it ends. Well I say that there are some things we don't wanna know. Important things!

A while back I saved this Mutts daily strip that literally had no context, I can scan it. But basically it was a crab on the beach, silent for 2 panels, than it just says - "Something's wrong."

Always weirded me out.

Well I mean purely on a visual level, for me, I can still kind of separate the context and enjoy it by itself. It's my current desktop at my job and I still find it hilarious, even though in actuality it's lame as it ever was.

EDIT: I WILL SCAN THE MUTTS STRIP TONIGHT to replace Blondie.

note to my fellow boarders: do not GIS "blondie cartoon" with your SafeSearch filter off.

dammit Cole, I was hoping I'd be the first one to mention that.

"What does this cartoon mean?"

"It's ... a social commentary."

"But what is the comment?"

"...Varstein?"

"That's not a word."

Am I the only one who thinks Garfield is pretty bleak already WITH Garfield in it? In fact Garfield tormenting and making fun of Jon for being depressed makes it all the more cruel.

I thought that was the point of Garfield though. He is a cuddly asshole.

Garfield and Peanuts have a lot in common. Only those two strips would start with the line "Sometimes I feel like everybody hates me."

i liked the garfields where just garfield's dialogue balloons are removed, then some punk started removing garfield and it isn't as funny

For some legit weird cartooning, there's always the brief but semi-disturbing "Dead Garfield" strips from 1989:

Yeah that week of Halloween strips are pretty nuts. Jim Davis said he was trying to do an "actually scary" Halloween Garfield story.
