finished the tarrey town quest
the reward is just a couple diamonds....i swear they hinted that i'd get a second house out of this so i'm kind of pissed off (though to be fair, the completed tarrey town definitely has the best shop. and you can stay at the inn for free i think)

also up to 113 shrines, so i figure i may as well tackle ganon now, though i'll probably wait until next weekend

so, like i said i want to wait until the weekend to beat the game so i can really take my time, but i had a little time to play last night and decided to just wander some more in areas of the map that looked fairly empty. ended up finding 2 more shrines, so now i'm only 1 short of another heart container and figure i may try to find another one before beating it (i'm sure i'm just stalling at this point lol). also, if there are only 120 shrines then that definitely doesn't give you a full stamina wheel plus full 2 rows of hearts, so is there another non-orb way to upgrade those? seems odd that they'd make it so you couldn't upgrade both fully

You have to choose one or the other but DLC coming w/ shrines so maybe in the future we can.

so i beat ganon on saturday.  one thing i would have liked is to be able to play post-end game. like, walk around and talk to people having defeated ganon. maybe that was too much to ask, but it is kind of annoying that after you beat it it just brings you back to the main screen and the last save point (prior to beating it) is where you have to start. which means you still have "defeat ganon" as an objective even though you've already done it.

also, as an actual spoiler for the end battle, when you face his second form, it gives you a horse. i had no idea what was going on so i stupidy rode right towards him and my horse was immediately killed. i was still able to beat him without a horse but it was way more of a pain in my ass

also up to 117 shrines now so i definitely want to go ahead and find the last 3 to complete that at least

Mostly been exploring the Akkala region now. Found Robbie, did a few shrines, found Fang and Bone. Need to go get Dinraal's scale. Marked a few blue-maned Lynels I want to avoid but I did come across two Black Hinox that I killed surprisingly easily. Gonna see if the same method will work for the Hinox brothers.

Almost got the whole Twilight Princess outfit set from the Smash Bros Link amiibo, too. Just need the hat.

there's a lynel near mount floria that i think must be the easiest one. i've beaten him twice but still haven't beaten any other ones. if you need that  h...oof  i'd definitely tackle that one first

i finally got some playing time again last night and i'm inside the camel divine beast. i was kind of putting it off based on the difficulty sean had and i've read about elsewhere. but it was much easier than the death mountain ascent or the elephant attack sequence for those two divine beasts.

i went inside the outpost that you meet the gerudo princess before battling the camel and there was a long range bow in a chest that i grabbed which i suspect is why shooting the hooves was pretty easy. missed only 4 shots and think it lasted 2 min tops.

Is that the Phrenic Bow? I had something that does FPV long range shots and it was called that.

i think it was a called a golden bow, although now that you say that i think i have a phrenic bow, but didn't realize it was good for long range as well.

favorite is korok bow or lynel bow. 3 for 1 shots plus the barbarian helm do some pretty good damage.

Oh yeah the Forest Dweller's Bow is the shit. I actually didn't wanna break mine so I put it on the wall of my house for the moment, haha.

I'm on the quest to find a Duplex Box to show the little kid in Hateno I think. Joshua has like 3 of them in his game lol.

i'm starting to think the difficulty of the divine beasts is pretty heavily skewed towards which ones you tackle first? though i'm still incredibly awful at aiming arrows while moving, so maybe not

ditto on the arrows. if stationary I feel like a marksman. add movement and well, I wasted too many.

nintendo store was pretty cool. I was expecting it to be more grand. still a cool place with way too many cute items. not a ton of games which sort of irked me. anyhow upstairs they had some nice zelda items. I got a kirby decked out as link, a new loz case for my switch and some other small junk. they do have an awesome display of all the zelda games released. the replica master sword was super cool. I plan to load up a couple of pics if anyone is interested. they had a ganon mini bust I wanted to pick up but the price was crazy for what it was.

Load up those pics @DAntae.

Got some significant playing time in this weekend, prob ten hours or so. Up to 81 shrines. Maxed out my stamina wheel. Done with Gerudo Divine Beast. Poked around Rito Village for a bit, but decided to clean up some side/shrine quests before diving in. Found all 3 of the other great fairies, but still working on my rupee stash to pay off the third one. Got the Master Sword. Unlocked the entire map finally (the Ridgeland Tower with the electric wizzrobes, and lizalfos was my last one.)

Without saying where, is there any warm gear in the game aside from the Warm Doublet that you get from the old man very early on? I still need to explore the Herba area, the Gerudo mountains and Mount Lanryu some more and I'm sick of loading up on cooking stuff.

Also, I've noticed enemy difficulty has leveled up throughout the world the further into the game I've gotten. Started noticing Yiga dudes just popping up randomly now. The bokoblins in the forest near Hateno village have gone from like 2-3 red and blues to like 7-8 total with a couple silver ones mixed in.

Gonna try and 100% the side quests, shrines and armor before moving on to Ganon. Most I've ever played a game on the first play through easily and still haven't had the desire to put in something else and looking forward to DLC in a few months.

This weekend I did the huge maze in the corner of Akkala which was absurdly easier than it looked and loomed. Did a few more shrines, working on the hearts I need for the Master Sword. Close to pulling it out. Explored a little on Death Mountain, enough to get the fireproof clothing, but I'm not gonna fully dive into that until I'm done with the first Divine Beast and Zora's Domain.

I offered Farosh and Dinraal's scales to their springs so that's done. I'm powerful enough to deal with Minor Tests of Strength so I did which ever ones I had. I discovered Lurelin Village but have to unlock the region's tower still. Gonna start exploring to the west once I do that.

I'm traveling around to kill all the Hinox brothers. I've gotten two already and have killed numerous other black and whatever Hinox just lying around so it shouldn't be too hard to finish that this week. Starting to fight all the other large mini-bosses around like the Stone Talus and huge bone dude now that I can handle them.

Someday soon I will head back to that first Lynel and see how I do against it now.

yeah i can take out the easier lynel's at this point, but i'm still not good at it and have to eat a bunch to re-up my health through the battle. i haven't played in a couple weeks at this point, but i still have two shrines to find and plenty of korok seeds obviously (plus upgrading all my armor, which is partly why i've been working on beating lynels, as you need a bunch of their parts). speaking of korok, does anyone know why the bow page maxes out with a space still left?

is this so you have room for the bow of light or whatever when you fight ganon? that still doesn't make much sense, since it's not like you can keep that during normal gameplay

after posting that yesterday i was like fuck it and resolved to beat a silver lynel last night. i don't know if i got lucky or what, but i did it on the first try and didn't even have to deplete my whole food stash. i also found another shrine and feel like a total moron for this particular one being the second to last one i found, since it is not hidden in the slightest  it's the sand seal race one just outside of gerudo town -- which they basically pointed me right towards but i somehow never walked to that area!

Got all the Hinox brothers last night and unlocked Faron region. Found so many Koroks and Shrines on the way to that one tower in the stupid rain. Glad to have the map area open finally so I can see where the hell I am going. Got some rubber tights which will be helpful. I know Joshua already has the helm and rubber shirt so now he's all excited he knows where the tights are. I still find it really funny that we keep finding different things than each other.

I ended up killing the Lynel on the tall plateau to the west I think of the Faron tower. Completed a few quests thanks to that, and I traded temporarily for two hearts with the cursed statue to nab the Master Sword finally. I had the barbarian helm to help me with Lynel and ate about 5 low level defense meals to help out. I used like half my weapon stash though, all my single handed swords so I'm gonna collect a few more first. Plus it gives me an excuse to cooooook

Cool!

I beat Vah Ruta last night which was, unsurprisingly, easy after spending 80+ hours out in the world already, having a bunch of hearts, having the Master Sword.. I feel like I did the last half wrong because I just shot him to death with arrows after dealing with the ice and getting close but it worked so whatever.

My daughter is jealous of Lady Mipha apparently. She was all excited to see a new character on screen and then when she asked who that was, I joked "Link's Girlfriend" and she INSTANTLY turned salty, wanted Mipha to stop talking and get off the screen and leave Link alone. Wow. Whenever I run around with Link shirtless, Amy panics and says PUT CLOTHES ON OR HE'LL GET HIT IN HIS CHEST, DON'T LET HIM GET HIT IN THE CHEST!! I guess she really likes Link, ha.

so, i cheated and used google to find that last shrine because i impatiently wanted to see what happens when you complete them all and finding the very last one would have probably taken me like 20 hours of game time

you get link's classic green tunic

haha yeah. i've read what you get for finding all the korok seeds (which is much more difficult) and it's even more disappointing

Who got the DLC? Haven't tried the master sword trial yet, but found a few of the treasure chests and spent 20 minutes looking though my hero's path. Korok mask is on like 90% of the time now.

Got all the beasts done, 101 shrines done and found all the memories. Pretty sure the last main quest for me is to just beat Ganon. I lurked around the castle a bit and found the shrine in the docks area. Still want to get all 120 shrines and at least max out my weapon stash (one more spot to go I assume) before heading off to slay Ganon. My kids are bugging me to just do it, but I have too much fun exploring. Still have to the other two "Spring of" shrines that deal the dragons as well.

yeah i got the dlc but haven't spent much time with it yet. really wish i had that heroes path when i was still very active in the game, but oh well. i found the  nintendo switch t shirt , but that's the only new chest i've found as far as i know. i have attempted the heroes quest a couple times, but it's pretty freaking hard so i keep dying on the 7th or 8th level. plus i just know it will eventually make me beat a lynel and with no champion powers or decent armor and limited food, that's gonna be pretty tough for me

I got a switch and zelda a couple weeks ago and I've been having great fun. I like that you can just wander aimlessly and come across adventure. The other day I found a tiny rock guy, a giant, and another great fairy. I kinda want to start a diary of stuff like that. I did my first divine beast last night and I think I might spend the next week just exploring without any particular goal in mind.

@rubber cat even if you have a goal in mind when you sit down to play, exploring is always what inevitably happens anyway. take your time and enjoy. i've got about 110 hrs over 4 1/2 months of play and still look forward to my next chance to fire up the game.
