oh really because that's all i hear from them. at any time. ever.

"how could they?" is a very good question and exactly why i was over them after deryk engelland's speech

Vegas somehow the favourite in this series so I slapped 700 on the capitals to win. Plus I love Ovie. Just sucks the greatest scorer this league has seen hasn't lifted the cup yet. Soon hopefully.

Canucks for the cup 2021

Not the outcome I wanted, but the Caps had plenty of chances. disappointing to see them take the lead and then squander it so quickly in the third period. hopes are still there for now. a split on the road would ease my 'sky is falling' concerns. it is just a complex you have rooting for this team.

some facts:
-that was the first time the caps have ever won a single game in a finals series
-this now officially marks 20 years since the last time the finals ended in a sweep. the team that was last swept? the caps

I am wiped out. stayed up late as hell watching all the interviews I could find. part of me really wants them to close it out on the road. then part of me thinks how awesome it would be to clinch it at home. you can see how bad the fan base and casual viewers want this. it would make for an awesome sight.

after more thinking I want it finished off on the road. I love seeing fan bases have hopes dashed at home. close this one out boys.

and then the next day scherzer throws an immaculate inning wew

I would love to see the Caps win at home but man you definitely just take the Cup wherever you can get it. besides there's no reason for people to start being all dC sPoRtS, which they definitely would be if they lost

Yeah I’ve heard multiple people ponder the “would we rather win at home” question and I feel like shaking them and reminding them that this is still the caps and to just pray they can close it out in any way possible

that is exactly the common sense point that stands out in my head. this is the caps. if any team can find a way to lose a 3-1 lead...it is them. just when when you can, where you can. that said road or home. I do not care. win this. please.

then all I will need is a nats world series before I am dead. I have lost all faith in the skins ever winning again.

I assume y'all are out and about (or sleeping like reasonable adults) so, from your lil western Canadian Caps-as-second-team fan, congrats!! that was amazing and ovi and nicky lifting the cup together omg.

I am lagging today. tried to crash a little after midnight (sean can be my witness), then everyone back home started drunk calling/celebrating. so I was up until 3 am or so.

we also spent way too much at nhl shop on shit I do not need. then ordered a few posts just because.

I even got weepy seeing Ovi (and everyone else get to skate with the Cup). hope this group gets a couple more years together. I could see another run for them. why not get one or two more. why the fuck not. CAPSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

it would be phony of me to suddenly pretend to be hockey super fan or anything, so i'm more happy vicariously for all the sad sacks i know that have suffered with this team all these years

yeah my fandom was rocked when they got swept back in 98. there just was not much to celebrate since. you just came to expect them to lose when it mattered most. I mean having some great players and regular season teams was fun. you just knew somehow it was not going to work out.

this run really sort of washes it all away. all the what if scenarios.

I would love a documentary of footage following Ovi the entire offseason. all these great moments of him celebrating. whatever pressure he felt is all gone. it is great to see someone just so joyous over reaching a goal.

my Caps late night post cup win purchases are rolling in. yeah a lot is getting returned. my fake cup and puck with melted ice from the rink are so awesome.
