awesome band but theyve got a pretty big fanbase, bit of a stretch calling them 'unpopular'

Squelvin 01-06-2012 02:42 AM

yeah but nobody likes those nerds

Squeaky Voiced Teen 01-06-2012 06:35 AM

What are we classifying as "unpopular"? I've seen way bigger bands being posted in this thread.

wallet inspector 01-07-2012 01:56 AM

i assumed those were joke posts

Faaip de Oiad 01-08-2012 05:59 PM

My dad named me collin after the dudes in G.B.H.
For real...

adam 01-08-2012 07:51 PM

cheers matt it's probably about time i gave a listen to the obvious forerunners of the fucked punky bm stuff / stopped thinking that british punk is shite.

ray_winstone 01-09-2012 12:40 PM

aw man yes

probably my favourite release last year. fucking rages! shame they broke up tho. i should really d/l their tapes

no patience is a class label in general. logjammers 7'' is almost as good as the bloodclot faggots one

australia roolz

ray_winstone 01-09-2012 12:43 PM

i mean the bit near the end of 'how high can a punk get' w/ the party blower whistle thing is UNRIVALLED in hardcore

ray_winstone 01-09-2012 12:43 PM

(unrivalled WHIMSY, of course)

RIP Lookout Records http://www.altpress.com/news/entry/l...icially_closes

jake 01-15-2012 02:08 AM

not shocked. they haven't really released anything of note in 5 years, and after refusing to pay money to some of their biggest acts (ted leo, donnas, green day) and therefore having tons of bands pull their masters, it was only a matter of time. it does kind of suck that early ted leo albums and stuff will be out of print for a while, plus lots of bands like the lookouts will be completely impossible to find physical copies of.

it sucks considering lookout was one of the first punk labels i knew anything about but oh well. you suck at business you die.

edit: didn't realize they hadn't been putting out new material at all for a while now.

Darren.Erg 01-15-2012 05:05 AM

Yeah I know it was nothing but inevitable but still this label and it's releases did and still do mean a lot to me. Excited for "The Thing That Ate Larry Livermore" compilation.

Energy is THE record for that reggae-punk sound. i'm just sewing some op ivy patches on a shirt at the moment. avail were there in the early days too amongst other 'seminal' releases.

ray_winstone 01-18-2012 01:27 PM

yeah that record is class. great vocals

rammstein samples too

been listening to this a lot. it's like the perfect blend of every style of modern punk rock all on one album.

derek 01-18-2012 07:52 PM

you should all read mark prindle's hilarious interview with GBH's frontman. the interview took place after mark slated all of their records on his review site.

Big ups to Good Riddance. Thumbs down to Dayglo Abortions. Crucifucks are just weird

wallet inspector 01-19-2012 05:44 AM

love good riddance, i've been checking out singer russ rankin's solo stuff lately.

Dead to me and cobra skulls are touring here soon and i just found out today that my best friend has organised a DTM show at the mini-brewery he works at. it's the 1st ever show he's organised so that's a pretty awesome debut. unfortunately the agreement is it has to be a 'secret' show so it doesnt effect the show scheduled for the previous night and it's the end of the tour so cobra skulls are flying back, that's why they won't be playing. awesome news tho, DIY is well and truly alive :bang:

also :bang: to Bomb the music industry! touring here with Will Wagner and the Smith Street Band in support. these dudes are my favorite band from over here at the moment, check them out, theyre great if you can handle the thick accent :

They are popular here, but I'm thinking globally.

wallet inspector 03-02-2012 01:10 AM

how would you subjectively define them as bad? they are more crossover thrash though, but they made a transition to metal and I really liked their sound throughout. they're no worse than that white power screwdriver shit that was posted on here. theres a reason why they are unpopular.

new issue of modern hate vibe zine outta the UK

stoked.

ray_winstone 03-13-2012 03:45 PM

who does that modern hate vibe rag, remmy?

ive never heard of it and i feel like i should have

RembrandtQEinstein 03-13-2012 04:53 PM

it's bryony beynon of MRR and idunnowhatelse fame. i've only skimmed through so far. there's a feature on hygiene and a DIY history of hackney, among other things. looks pretty cool.

ray_winstone 03-13-2012 04:58 PM

ah shitter yeah i know (of) that lass. i see her at shows sometimes. also she writes for the guardian sometimes i think (?)

i really dig those hygiene records and my girlfriend lives in hackney, gonna seek out an ish
