unpopular punk bands
Forget about black flag, the dead kennedys, ramones ect. Everyone loves them and it's boring to talk about them. What are some of your favorite underrated punk bands?

I'm a huge fan of Bloody Mess And The Skabs and don't understand why I've never heard another person mention them. Actually I'm a fan of Bloody Mess in general, but haven't been able to find much of his other stuff.

I'm really liking this though, it's cool that he's still making music:

Not a fan of the genre but The King Blues have a good sound.

Raoul Dukie 06-04-2011 08:28 PM

Don't really listen to punk any more but I loved these guys when I did.

Gorilla Biscuits <3. I guess Moral Crux is a band I always put in this category. But there are really tons of bands that no one talks about.

Squeaky Voiced Teen 06-04-2011 10:24 PM

I listen to way too many punk bands no one cares about

Good Riddance are a very underrated band.

Been digging a lot of Rise Against lately. This song in particular:

Meh I'll give a list or something. But dude if you're gonna listen to Rise Against just listen to Born Against or Propagandhi or something.

Onion Flavoured Rings
Born Against
Regan Youth
Carrie Nations
The Clorox Girls
Cola Freaks
For Science
Defiance, Ohio
The Lillingtons
Reserve 34
Stay Gold
Youth of Today

i only know defiance, ohio out of that list, saw them on their last tour here, they were awesome and i bought some cds and a patch (know of crimpshrine and regan youth)

RembrandtQEinstein 06-06-2011 12:01 PM

i just saw "reagan youth" on saturday night. it was their third incarnation, after paul kicked out all the other original members in favor of three new hired guns. yeah, i get it, dave insurgent is dead and they needed a new singer. but kicking out the original bassist and drummer as well? bad move. i saw them many times in their second incarnation and they were awesome (or at least as good as they could be without dave). now, they're much slower and not as good, technically. the only improvement is that they're doing "are you really happy?" as a dirge now (it sounds really cool slowed down), but i doubt that was intended.

Is Paul the one I know?

RembrandtQEinstein 06-06-2011 02:58 PM

yup, paul cripple

RembrandtQEinstein 06-07-2011 09:38 AM

will be in miami this weekend. they always put on a great show and i'm sure a rowdy, drunken time will be had by all.

i feel a little weird including them in this thread, however, because they're pretty huge within the punk scene.

nathan 06-11-2011 06:02 AM

80% of what i currently listen to probably falls under this category.

wallet inspector 06-11-2011 09:05 AM

Avail are awesome, still one of the best punk shows ive been to.

Darren.Erg 06-12-2011 05:07 PM

I haven't listened to Avail in years. they're pretty good. I prefer their Lookout records output more than their Fat wreck stuff though

Nathan how's the new Dear Landlord/Dopamines split?

nathan 06-12-2011 11:21 PM

after a few listens the dear landlord side doesn't blow me away but the 2 dopamines tracks are pretty great.

RembrandtQEinstein 06-13-2011 10:01 AM

summer jamz:

chalk circle
sunshine SS
crazy spirit
crisis (pre-death in june; more like post-punk)
eddy current suppression ring
big crux

Squeaky Voiced Teen 06-13-2011 01:54 PM

my summer JAMZ:
Cheap Girls
Andrew Jackson Jihad
Bad Brains
Minor Threat
For Science
The Ergs!
Screeching Weasel(Anthem for a New Tomorrow might be the perfect summer album)

Raoul Dukie 06-13-2011 02:06 PM

This thread is bringing back memories. Another band that hasn't been mentioned yet that I liked a lot;

Front porch stories is a briliant record, im craving it but i lent it to a singer in a local band about a year ago and havent seen it since.

RembrandtQEinstein 06-14-2011 01:27 PM

flipper is probably getting the most respect now that they ever have or will. look at all the current bands ripping them off. that being said, they still hardly get any respect.

ray_winstone 06-14-2011 02:08 PM

i like fang more than flipper but nobody ever talks about fang

adam 06-14-2011 07:12 PM

wow, i'd completely forgotten fang even existed. probably way more my kind of thing now than the last time i listened to landshark.

i've been liking flipper's first record a lot lately too. the track linked in here isn't bad, i'll be sure to get on their second record some time.

wallet inspector 06-15-2011 04:23 AM

k cobain was a huge fan, used to wear home made flipper t shirts
